Good book, excellent book if you already currently the basics

The first edition of this book was printed in 1968. within the preface to the primary edition, Carl Boyer mentions another books regarding the history of arithmetic and why he thinks it's necessary to jot down simply another one. the foremost necessary reason for him is strict adherence to chronological arrangement and a stronger stress on historical components. From my purpose of read, this aim is (at once) the strength and also the weakness of the book. during this single volume of over 700 pages, the book provides you with therefore a lot of detailed historical facts and numbers that it extremely deserves to be known as "A History Of Mathematics". however soon when beginning to scan the book, I lost interest in reading it. Why was it therefore boring to scan facts and even additional facts ? The wealth of fabric alone doesn't answer the questions on the history of mathematical concepts.
